These beautiful rustic mortars look the best against a contemporary backdrop or paired with a contemporary piece of furniture. It is a perfect decoration for your country kitchen.

We have a contact in Thailand who has been collecting these wonderful antique wooden mortars over the last few years. Some of these date back to early late 18th to early 19th century. These tribal mortars would have been used for grinding herbs, grains and medicines.
Beautiful pieces of wood and very decorative on their own. These could also be planted with herbs, filled with pens, perfect for ones keys by the door or as a base for a large church candle.

Why teak wood? Teak is valuable for both its elegance and its durability. Beyond its splendour, it also possesses certain natural properties that other types of wood don’t have.

Additional qualities of teak are elasticity and high content of solid fibres. Both can simplify woodworking and the ability of artisans to create products, which you can find in our store. These qualities allow for the equally beautiful and durable designs.

Natural oils of teak wood make it suitable for locations exposed to elements. These oils assist the timber to be termite and pest resistant. Teak is a long-lasting wood, even when not preserved with oil or varnish. Moreover, teak wood holds its shape over years, even if left outdoors.
